The Lithuanian Seimas recognized Wagner PEC with a terrorist organization

This is the first such case in EU countries. In the resolution, Yevgeny Prigogine is separately called the "shadow instrument of the Russian authorities. " The Lithuanian Parliament recognized the Russian armed group of Wagner PEC, which is fighting in Ukraine, a terrorist organization. About it today, March 14, reports Lithuanian television LRT. The resolution voted unanimously 117 members of the Seimas.

"Since the beginning of the military invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine in 2022, military personnel of the Russian Federation and mercenaries of the private military company" Wagner ", which is actively involved in hostilities on the side of the aggressor, commit systematic serious crimes of aggression - murder and torture and other civilian objects, which is equal to terrorism, " - the document reads.

The resolution emphasizes that the Wagner private military company, based on Russian President Yevgeny Prigogin, is a shadow instrument of Russian authorities. Wagner's mercenaries pose a threat to public and public security. The resolution also calls for other countries to follow the example of the Lithuanian Seimas. There are no direct legal consequences. The EU has a single list of terrorist organizations that the Wagner PVC is not included.

At the same time, sanctions were imposed against the organization and its founder Yevgeny Prigogine. Recall that in January 2023, the US Ministry of Finance declared Wagner PEC a transnational criminal organization through participation in the war in Ukraine and suspicion of numerous war crimes committed in this country, as well as in the king and small and imposed sanctions.

At the same time, the US media reported that the US administration is against the inclusion of the organization in the list of terrorist, although such calls were called in Congress. The Wagner PEC was also called by the Parliament of Canada by terrorists. Meanwhile, the Congress and the US Presidential Administration, Joe Biden, are arguing whether to recognize the Russian Wagner PEC by a foreign terrorist organization (FTO status).
