Little drones will soon lose efficiency in the war in Ukraine - General Pierre Schill

Now in Ukraine, 80% of the goals on the front line are destroying FPV-Drons, as it is difficult to protect themselves, but the situation may change in the next year due to the emergence of new technologies. Small unmanned aerial vehicles are now giving military advantages in battles, in particular in Ukraine, but soon their efficiency will decrease. This was announced at the French Army Staff, General Pierre Schill, at the Defense News, at the Defense News.

The military was called a mass use of small drones by the military. So far, UAVs cannot completely close the sky from the aircraft, which, in turn, remain very fragile. Protection technologies are improving, and now 75% of the battlefields in Ukraine fall and get lost through the work of radio -electronic fighting systems (EIT). The General noted that FPV-arose (with a first person) destroy 80% of objects across the front line in Ukraine, although there were not so much in 2023.

However, the French commander is convinced that this situation will definitely not be in 10 years, moreover, the era of small UAVs can end in a year or two. As an example, he cited the Turkish drones of Bayraktar TB2, who at the beginning of a full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation were effectively used by Ukrainian troops and became "kings of war", but now they were not used, because the Russians learned to knock them easily.

"The impunity life of small, very simple drones over the battlefield is just a moment in history. Of course, it is used now, and we have to defend ourselves. Today the sword in the form of air drone is very strong, more powerful than the shield. But the shield will increase," - - - - Pierre Schill predicted and stressed that the French army should be universal. But the development of drones, the general believes, will not stand still.

The army cannot plan long -term procurement programs, as the regulated UAVs can be obsolete in a few months. They cannot be compared with projectiles that will be stored for a long time and will remain relevant for decades. So modern drones work better than they were two to three years ago, because they have a much higher computing power, can be guided by the terrain and changing the frequencies of radio signals by avoiding "muffler".

It is necessary to create an industrial model that can massively produce drones by general standards. To buy UAVs and other electronic equipment, such as smartphones, armies, you need limited batches at the brigade level, not the entire army at once. At the Eurosatory 2024, the developers have presented many UAV systems, including shotguns, missiles and guns. Safran, Thales and Hensoldt presented a solution for "soft" destruction of drones with radio electronic technologies.

According to Pierre Silly, two years later, all cars of the French joint combat program "Scorpio" will be able to fight drones using Tureli armed with rockets or 40 mm air grenades. Pierre Schil added that Scorpion became a very ambitious project, but met expectations. The French managed to realize everything that was planned. Five years ago, the rapid development of microprocessors was not taken into account, but thanks to them the data collected can now be analyzed simply inside the machine.

In combination with onboard artificial intelligence, this will allow to realize such opportunities as immediate detection of threats, in particular from drones. Meanwhile, Ukrainians use their UAVs to destroy hostile. Yes, the FPV-Dron has shot down the lancet ammunition, which was already preparing to impress the position of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. Russia also uses new lightning aircraft in the area of the time ravine and in the Seversky direction.
