According to the cyberattacks on important web resources of Ukraine there is a game of Russia-expert

The Cadet Blizzard hacker group is associated with the Russian Federation's military intelligence service, but it is noted that its attacks were too successful. A wave of cyberattacks against Ukrainian government agencies and information technology suppliers related to hackers working for Russian military intelligence - GRU, Microsoft spokesman said in his blog. In digital space with Ukraine, he is fighting a hacker group called Cadet Blizzard. Microsoft believes that it has been active since 2020.

Tom Bert, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Safety and Trust, wrote in a blog that it was this group of attackers responsible for attacks on Ukraine's web resources, made before Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The attacks were accompanied by data purification, he stressed. Cadet Blizzard usually breaks goals using stolen credentials to access the Internet servers. Once inside, hackers use available tools such as web bars that can be purchased and tuned.

They also do not use malicious software to explore the networks of their goals. This complicates the detection of cybercriminals inside the network. Tom Bert notes that Cadet Blizzard was not as successful as other game -related groups - Seashell Blizzard (Iridium) and Forrest Blizzard (Strontium).

"Attacks in February 2022, attributed to Seashell Blizzard, were cutting more than 200 systems covering more than 15 organizations, while Cadet Blizzard attack in January 2022 touched less systems and had a relatively modest impact, that hackers were trained to destroy enemy networks, " - writes a specialist. Cadet Blizzard's activity increased sharply from January to June 2022, extinguished and increased again in early 2023.

The later Cadet Blizzard Cadet Cyber Operations, though sometimes successful, also did not achieve the same effect as the operations that other hackers from the game were added, Bert added. Russia has historically used cyberspace to demonstrate strength and interference in the external affairs of other states.
