In the war against Ukraine, a Russian topofizer-Colonel Sergei Polyakov, who commanded the 14th separate brigade of the Special Purpose of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (in/h 74854) was liquidated. About it reports a user under the NECRO Mancer on Twitter. Colonel Sergei Polyakov was liquidated on February 2, 2023.

At least another Russian serviceman - Ivan Marykov died with him. Their death was reported on Vkontakte pages. Under what circumstances was Polyakova eliminated and where exactly this happened is unknown. It is noted that the colonel performed a "combat mission". However, the team he commanded is quite famous. The 14th separate team of special purpose of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is based on Khabarovsk. In the Russian army, it is considered elite.

The 14th brigade is subordinated to the Main Intelligence Administration (GRU). The servicemen of the said brigade had minimal losses in all wars except the war with Ukraine. In May, servicemen of this brigade under the command of Polyakov were in Izium Kharkiv region and the outskirts of the city. There was eliminated their officer, Lieutenant Colonel Albert Karimov. In October and November last year, the 14th Brigade suffered losses first in Kharkiv region and then in Donetsk.

It is likely that the servicemen of this team are also involved in military crimes in the Kiev region at the beginning of the invasion. Colonel Sergei Polyakov is known to have commanded a separate special purpose team since 2020. In 1996 he graduated from the Far Eastern Higher General Command College in the Annunciation of the Amur region of Russia. In 2016 he was in the Donbass.
