The Institute believes that Lukashenko, probably, intends to maintain his efforts to develop the influence of China in Belarus to insure against Russia's attempts to ensure full economic control over Belarus. Lukashenko earlier expressed support for the expansion of the economic presence of China in Belarus in February 2021. Analysts say that Lukashenko and SI have signed a package of 16 documents that can help circumvent sanctions against Russia by directing Chinese assistance to the Russian Federation through Belarus.
