German drones Vector will be made in Ukraine: when production starts and what will help the Armed Forces

The availability of a base in Ukraine will allow engineers to improve the already useful drones and faster to supply them to the Ukrainian army. Since January 2024, the German Quantum Systems drone manufacturer plans to launch in Ukraine the production of spare parts to its unmanned Vector aircraft. This is stated in Forbes, published on Monday, December 18.

In addition, the media reports that in 2025 the UAV VAKTOR manufacturer will launch full -scale drones in Ukraine, which the company's budget already provides expenditures of about 7 million euros. For its part, DW notes that the cooperation of the German developer of unmanned equipment with Ukraine began in 2022. In August 2022, Quantum Systems reported on its website about the supply of the first 33 drones.

Since then, the volume of deliveries has increased to 105 drones in January 2023 and 300 in May 2023. And in January 2023, a Ukrainian billionaire, who wished to maintain anonymity, contacted the manufacturer through the Ukrainian Consulate in Munich and ordered the Vector drone for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Its value was 180 thousand euros. The government of Germany then took part of the costs.

Quantum Systems activity in Ukraine continued in April 2023, when the company opened a service and logistics center in our country, where 10 people were working at that time. And, given the prospects of creating a full cycle of production of Vector aircraft in our country, the staff is planned to increase to 40 people. It should be noted that the German UAV manufacturer became the second Western company that opened a service center in Ukraine.

The availability of a base in Ukraine will allow the company to collect reviews, research and improve their drones. The start of production in Ukraine will also optimize logistics costs and accelerate the receipt of spare parts necessary for the repair of drones.

Despite the fact that at the initial stage production in Ukraine will not fully cover the needs of the Armed Forces, the launch of production facilities in Ukraine will allow factories in Germany, the US and Australia to produce systems for NATO countries. In parallel, Quantum Systems is negotiating with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on the commissioning of the system, which will allow the profile ministry to buy German drones for the Ukrainian military directly.

Vector is a aircraft type with a vertical take -off and landing system and a long work time (up to 2 hours). It is used for reconnaissance, studying the situation, mapping, assessment of combat damage, search and rescue, protection and key staff. These UAVs are equipped with double electro -optical and thermal imaging chambers, which allow video surveillance day and night. The images are transmitted in real time by encrypted cellular IP network to several ground control stations up to 15 km.

The drones are also equipped with artificial intelligence, which with the help of special algorithms automatically analyzes the image, identifies, identifies and monitors objects, and transmits valuable information to land units. We will remind, in early December it became known that Ukraine received from Germany UAV VECTOR and LUNA NG. Both drones can be easily and quickly in working order to monitor the invaders on the battlefield and in the rear.
