Russia and Ukraine are unfolding "technological" bait tanks-media (photo)
They are equipped with advanced sensors, these UAVs are becoming more and more resistant to obstacles. In this regard, the Russian Federation and Ukraine use baits to mislead enemy drones and to force opponents to spend resources, protecting true armored vehicles. Although bait tanks began to be used in the wars almost a hundred years ago, much advanced models are used in the war in Ukraine. These baits are very different.
The video posted on social networks shows two baits of BMP-1 with a wooden frame covered with a dense tarpaulin fabric. The frame has a form that resembles a BMP-1, with a tube mounted on a tower imitating a cannon. In the closest examination, these improvised baits will have differences. But they are still able to deceive the reconnaissance drones or observers at a distance.
However, even with modern visualization technologies, these elementary baits are easily recognized as fakes, and therefore they are not so appropriate. More advanced and convincing baits were also deployed. Recent images on social networks show Ukrainian copies of Leopard 2A6 of solid wooden panels that exactly repeat the size and shape of the tank. They are placed with the help of a military truck. Social networks report that the Russians spent several laments bargaining ammunition on each lure.
Another video, shot last summer, shows a similar bait of Leopard 2A4 in Donetsk region. It was supplemented with a camouflage grid to increase realism. Both Ukraine and Russia have expanded the use of baits, among other things, inflatable models are used. Recent footage from Ukrainian drone is showing what is reminiscent of Russian T-72, but in fact it is inflatable traps. At a distance, they look convincing, but more detailed examination shows that there are not enough details.
These traps were probably developed by Rusbal, a key supplier for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Ukraine also used inflatable tanks. Last year, the Czech Inflatch company reported that she had sent an inflatable Leopard 2A4 trap to Ukraine and offers many similar systems. Representatives of the US company I2K Defense, which specialize in the field of inflatable military systems, published a report last year, which tried to predict future trends in this area.
Future models are expected to be used in future models and smart materials. In addition, systems will be able to unfold autonomously, which will allow you to carry out faster and safe settings without the need for human participation. In addition, the value of these baits is increased by built -in sensors.
