Russia almost knocked down a British scout near Ukraine-WP

The incident occurred in the fall of 2022 off the coast of Crimea, when Russian fighters tried to intercept the RC-135 Rivet Joint. According to journalists, the crashing of the aircraft could lead to NATO's accession to the war against Russia. The Russian Federation was almost knocked down by a British scout aircraft that patrolled over the Black Sea. This was reported on April 9 by Washington Post with reference to the released secret documents of the Pentagon.

According to a secret US military document, which unknown was published on the network, the incident was more significant than previously reported, and could involve the United States and their NATO allies directly into the war in Ukraine. It happened on September 29, 2022 off the coast of Crimea.

2 Russian Su-27 fighters intercepted the British RC-135 in the international airspace over the Black Sea, and one of the Russian aircraft released a rocket that flew at a close distance from the British aircraft. This was also reported by the UK Minister of Defense Ben Volles House of Commons. But publicly the minister did not call this incident "almost beating", but the launch of the rocket explained the "technical malfunction" of the Russian Su-27.

Representatives of the US defense department refused to comment on the content of the document leakage. According to a secret document, French and British planes made a crew over the Black Sea between September 29 and 26, while Americans relied on drones, including RQ-4 Global Hawk, RQ-170 Sentinel and MQ. Several such flights took place on a monthly basis, according to the document. Representatives of the US Armed Forces stated that they usually publish plans for such flights.

Pentagon spokesman Bryadna Patrick Ryder stated last month that it is important to keep the Black Sea and the sky over it open to all countries. "The Black Sea," he said, "is a critical international maritime that supports many of our allies on NATO, including Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey, and does not belong to any country.
