Fraud or reason? Why in Russia arrested another general and what is the Minister of Defense here

Another Russian General was arrested on charges of fraud. The analyst Alexei Kopitko explains what behind -the -scene games are behind this event and what the new Defense Minister Belousov is here. The ex-commander of the 58th All-Military Army of the Southern VOC, Major General Ivan Popov, was arrested in Russia. The official reason is suspicion of fraud.

The general is guilty of fraud with 2 thousand tons of metal products, which he, according to the investigation, used one of the businessmen for a selfish purpose, not for equipment equipment in the Zaporozhye region. This general commanded the occupation troops at the front sites in Kharkiv (2022) and Zaporizhzhya (2023) regions. Before that he served in Crimea for several years.

The plot is interesting in that it can be both a healing of the history of the Wagnets and/or the echo of the struggle of the general clans after the shoig and his accomplices. Popov is known for the fact that in July 2023 he publicly declared his removal from office due to conflict with the superiors, directly with the head of the Russian Security Service of the Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov.

Allegedly, Popov at one of the meetings told the truth about the situation on the front and problems, after which he was accused of panicage and fell into disgrace. Popov's appeal to the subordinates then published on his channel the most odious general-general of the State Duma Andriy Gurulev, who even on broadcasts goes well with drunk and constantly carries nonsense. It is noteworthy that in 2012-2016 Gurulev himself commanded the 58th Army.

That is, a representative of one of the groups tried to protect his conflict with the Second Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Poppova occurred shortly after the Wagner raid and looked like a manifestation of unacceptable free thinking in the army. The arrest of a general on charges of fraud 10 months after these events - a kind of delayed punishment with the elements of discredit.

Gurulev, like another general deputy, commanded by the 58th Army, Andrey Kartpolov, refused to comment on the arrest. Popova's father called what happened "the basis" and stated that for some time he could not contact his son. The lawyer of the arrested General claims that he was not charged, the ward is not guilty of anything. For us, the story is interesting because this public strife promises a continuation. Some of the Russian media illuminate the incident dry.

However, a number of leading editions gently shapes the image of a general tributary that has suffered from Gerasimov's "Shark". At the same time, in Russia, they began to disperse the new Defense Minister Andriy Belousov, who was tasked with shaking the generals. The more such fibers, the better. We support all the opposing sides, we urge not to regret opponents. The author expresses a personal opinion that may not coincide with the editorial position.
