Does not want to be like Lukashenko: why Putin didn't declare a general mobilization - expert (video)

According to military expert Alexei Hetman, during the election, the Russian president will press on the world community to achieve negotiations and breaks in the war. The Russian Federation needs mobilization of its population to conduct further fighting in Ukraine. However, Russian President Vladimir Putin will prefer not to mobilize openly before the elections.

The military expert and major of the reserve of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexei Hetman told about it on the air of the national telecommunication. Hetman explains that there will be no direct mobilization in Russia, since Putin is important that the elections are at least partially democratic. This is due to the fact that Putin does not want to look like Lukashenko, a leader of Belarus, whom the world community did not recognize as a legally elected president.

According to him, Putin will press on the world community to achieve negotiations and breaks in the war. "They need to win the time for Putin to become somehow legitimate to the president. Otherwise, it will be like Lukashenko. I think that there will be no direct mobilization, but it will be hidden," the hetman said. On September 21, 2022, Vladimir Putin announced a partial mobilization for the call of about 300,000 people. This led to the mass departure of the Russians from the country.

However, later the head of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoigu announced the end of mobilization. According to him, all tasks, including the conscription of 300 thousand people, were fulfilled by the defense department.
