In the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the combat units that can be relied on - the Britain's intelligence

The Russian 72nd Brigade, which was entrusted with an important area of the front under Bakhmut, has long been known for the low moral spirit and poor combat capability. Russia's armed forces are keenly lacking trained and experienced units for Bakhmuta. Such a conclusion on Twitter was published by experts of the UK Ministry of Defense, citing intelligence data.

According to British scouts, in the last four days, part of the Russian 72nd Separate Rifle Brigade (72 OMSBR) retreated from their positions on the southern flank of Bakhmut, probably suffered significant losses. Ukrainian troops managed to move there at least a kilometer. The area that held the unit is tactical because it served as the invaders on the west side of the Donets-Donbas channel, which marks the front line.

The 72nd OMSBR is a part of the 3rd Army Corps of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, created in the fall of 2023, mainly from mobilized Russians, its personnel have a low moral spirit and limited combat capacity. "Its deployment in such a necessary and important sector emphasizes the acute shortage of combat units in Russia, which deserves trust," - summed up the UK Ministry of Defense.

On May 9, the founder of the Wagner PEC Yevgeny Prigogin stated that the units of the 72nd Brigade of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation quit positions south of Bakhmut. As a result, a hole of 3 square kilometers was formed on the front. Later, the commander of the 2nd assault battalion of the 3rd school of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Dmitry Kukharchuk stated that the "Wagnerivtsi" ran along with the soldiers of the 72nd Brigade of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Bakhmut.
