The Armed Forces came up with an original way of using mines: what is known about "witch" (video)

Initially, the OZM-72 fragmental mine was created as a defense weapon. However, the Ukrainian military created a shock configuration of ammunition using a landless drone. During the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war, both sides are actively implementing unmanned ground devices (UGV). The notable innovation was the use of the Ukrainian military in offensive operations of anti-personnel mines of the OZM-72, originally designed for defense tasks.

Army Recognition was told about the original decision of the Armed Forces fighters on November 18. OZM-72 is a fragile-fugitive mine of Soviet development. After activation, it can rise to a height of about a meter, where detonation occurs, scattering the fragments at a considerable distance. Mina became sad in the Afghan War. In one of the episodes there was a random blasting of ammunition, which led to the death of four and a wound of 14 soldiers.

After that, the armies gave her the nickname - "Witch". Key characteristics of weapons: traditionally this mine is used for defense. Activation occurs with the help of stretch cables or pressure mechanisms connected to the mechanical detonators of the MUS series (a modernized simplified detonator). However, the Ukrainian military modified these mines, turning them into mobile offensive weapons.

With the help of a UGV, a mine runs as an improvised shrapnel projectile, which is detonated when struck on the target. This approach makes it possible to use a high -accuracy ammunition, minimizing the risk to personnel. At the same time, in the shock configuration, the mine requires the modification of standard mechanisms of detonators.

The fact is that the original detonators are designed to activate the tension of the cable or press are not effective enough for reliable operation during the impact. Although the details of the modifications are not revealed, it is obvious that adaptation required considerable engineering efforts. Experts say that this innovation demonstrates the ingenuity of Ukrainian troops in the conditions of limited resources.

Using UGV to deliver such ammunition, the Army of Ukraine was able to strike point on the fortifications and technique of the enemy, adapting outdated ammunition to modern tactical tasks. "The use of UGV in Russian-Ukrainian conflict has gone beyond traditional functions, such as intelligence and logistics. This adaptation not only increases the offensive capabilities .
