Before the development of the domestic head of self -introduction, Astra relied on Israeli technologies for guidance. The tests were conducted against high -speed unmanned aerial goals on different distances, with different aspects of the goals and conditions of the starting platform. Moreover, both goals were reportedly destroyed "with extremely high accuracy. " The self -rescue radio frequency head was developed by the Indian Defense and Development Organization.
It is noted that the previous versions of Astra missiles had built -in self -alien heads, developed in cooperation with the Israeli company Rafael. Astra flight range exceeds 53 seas miles (100 km). Astra MK-1 aircraft is in service with the Air Force of India. It is installed on the Su-30mki, and will also be armed with a light battle aircraft Hindustan Aeronautics. In March, the Tejas MK1 prototype made a successful Astra launch.
Astra MK-2 variant exceeds 86 nm with greater range, and it is undergoing research tests and limited production is expected in the coming years. It is believed that another option, ASTRA MK-3, will use a solid fuel rectified air-reactive installation (SFDR) to achieve increased flight range and high-speed maneuverability at the final stage.
