"We haven't reached it yet": the military appreciated the new Russian Dron Kamikadze "CUB-2"

In his opinion, engineers from the Russian Federation tried to copy American bargage ammunition Switchblade 600 from the manufacturer Aerovironment. This is indicated by the form of glider and wings, in which all planes serve as eleroron and can return fuselage in flight for a more accurate hit on the target. The antennas are located on top, which indicates that "CUB-2" is intended for use with a drone-retraislator, unlike Switchblade, which works on its own.

This opportunity could not be implemented yet, but in the very form of the glider it is laid. "You can see the movement towards launching from the tube, not the catapult," the military said. "The tube layout is bad if the enemy can embody. We have not completed it before, we still have big, heavy catapults. " The Russians claim that "CUB-2" received two versions-"small" and "middle" classes. "Both ammunition weigh more than ten kilograms," Kalashnikov noted.

Oleksandr Karpyuk noted that the weight of the combat unit not only implies the weight of the explosive. "If they tried to make their switchblade 600, then most likely tried and copied the tandem from Javelin. And in Javelini, the battle part weighs 8. 5 kg, that explosives there - 2. 7 kg. There will be something similar for everything, ”the fighter suggested. By the way, the Russians themselves also recognize the similarity with Switchblade.

The popular Telegram-channel "UAV cutter" has noted that its shape involves launching a tube installation, but the photo does not show a mechanism that would allow to assemble and lay out its wings. And the tube, which protrudes in the front, should interfere. If you cannot start a portable tube, the developers have not chosen the best form in terms of aerodynamics. In Russia, it is not the first time trying to copy Switchblade.

In June 2023, it became known about the development of a new shock drone "Vector-120". The occupiers would be able to launch such UAVs from tube, without compressed air compressor, like Switchblade. Its further fate is unknown, in 2024 it was planned to carry out the first flight tests. In the Russian NGO "Android technologies" in the same year presented a similar development-a shock drone "Bass-80" with complex wings and launch from a tube with a powder charge.
