China rolled the J-15T fighter: why can it become a problem for the US Army (video)

The deck fighter is universal in terms of take -off, because, according to experts, it can be based on aircraft carriers with both the "classic" method of launch and with electromagnetic catapults. At Airshow China 2024 in Zhuhaya, China first introduced a modernized deck fighter Shenyang J-15T, created on the basis of Russian SU-33.

The War Zone reviewers drew attention to the characteristics of the Chinese car and concluded that, in the aggregate of all the capabilities of the aircraft, it can create certain problems for the US Army. The key feature of the new version of J-15T is the ability to take off with the help of electromagnetic catapult Catobar (Catapult Assisted taket But Arrested Recovery), which will be installed on the new Chinese aircraft carrier Type 003, Fujian.

This opportunity allows the aircraft to increase the flight range and combat load, strengthening the Navy Navy. In addition, this type of fighter is likely to be compatible with aircraft carriers with a "classic" start -up method - with a springboard in the nasal and airfinisers in the feed part of the flight deck.

The new J-15T fighter also contains a number of structural changes aimed at improving aerodynamics and increasing the strength of the glider, which is necessary for frequent launches from electromagnetic catapult. From the basic version of the J-15B, which takes off with the help of a springboard and has a combat radius up to 1200 km at loading up to 6500 kg, the J-15T is characterized by an advanced structure and more powerful Chinese WS-10 engines. The changes also touched the plane.

Earlier, Chinese aircraft was limited by the use of Russian AL-31F engines, but the introduction of WS-10 indicates China's success in the development of their own motor technologies for deck aircraft. The observers noted that the J-15T, which is a multi-purpose fighter, can generally be compared with the F/A-18E Super Hornet US Navy. In addition, China also works on a double J-15 line, compatible with aircraft carriers to perform additional tasks.

It is suggested that double machines will act as a similar EA-18G Growler Navy, that is, they will fulfill radio-electronic war missions. Currently, there are about 66 J-15B fighters in service with the Navy. The new J-15T model is expected, with the possibility of launching electromagnetic catapults, will increase the potential of deck aviation, which is especially important in the light of possible confrontation with the United States in the Pacific.
