China supplies the Russian Federation and electronics for military equipment for millions of dollars - Reuters

From August to December 2023, more than 200 companies registered in Hong Kong set up $ 750 million to Russian clients - from high -performance from NVidia and Vectrawave to cheaper than Texas Instruments and Intel. The US Department of Commerce reported that the volumes of chips supplied by Russia through China have decreased by 19%this year. However, the main flow of black import goes through Hong Kong, writes Reuters.

The C4ads Global Security Organization reported that in the period from August to December 2023, more than 200 companies registered in Hong Kong were supplied by Russian customers in the amount of almost $ 2 billion. Semiconductors were set worth $ 750 million - from high -yielding Nvidia and Vectrawave chips to cheaper Texas Instruments and Intel processors.

Hong Kong Microelectronics, which is believed by the United States and the European Union, uses Russia in the war against Ukraine, fell by 28% from January to May, a representative of the US Ministry of Commerce said Reuters. According to the official, during the same period of crossing these goods through mainland China, except Hong Kong, fell by 19%.

The US government views Hong Kong and China as key global nodes through which Russia can receive materials for its armed forces, including semiconductors and details for drones. The United States and their allies have accused China of supporting Russia's war against Ukraine, partly through export of spare parts and equipment required for Russian weapons.

The US State Department and the US Treasury have imposed several rounds of sanctions around the world that had commercial relations with the Russian Armed Forces, including expensive companies in Hong Kong, engaged in importing semiconductors. An official who spoke with news agency on anonymity said that reducing illegal electronics flows was the result of aggressive enforcement by the United States, as well as interaction with manufacturers.

The Hong Kong government has stated that it did not exercise and has no legal authority to take unilateral sanctions imposed by other countries, and that the sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, in particular on North Korea, were imposed. In response to the Reuters Question, Nvidia said she had stopped sales to Russia in March 2022 and demanded that all US laws comply with its clients.

Texas Instruments informed Reuters, which opposes the use of its chips in Russian military equipment and illegally transporting its products to the Russian Federation. Intel said it is strictly compliance with US export rules and sanctions and requires suppliers and distributors of responsibility for compliance with the same standards. Vectrawave did not respond to a comment request. Earlier, we reported that China is preparing to produce 5-HPs and the US will not be able to prevent it.
