The Russian Federation "knead" in the north: two strategic Tu-160 flew in the Arctic route

According to military analysts, the 11-hour flight demonstrated not only the technical capabilities of the Tu-160 aircraft, but also its role in the strategy of nuclear restraint in the Arctic, which has increased interest of the Russian Federation and the USA. Two Russian strategic Tu-160 bombers have made a long patrol flight over neutral waters of the Arctic Ocean.

According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on January 28, the operation lasted more than 11 hours and took place within "regular flights over the neutral waters of the Arctic". On this occasion, the Bulgarian Military Viewer wrote that the flight demonstrates Russia's ability to produce military power at considerable distances. It demonstrates not only the technical characteristics of the Tu-160, but also its role in the strategy of long-lasting nuclear restraint.

At the same time, although the flight was planned, the details of route and logistics were not disclosed. It was noted that Tu-160 patrols in the Arctic Ocean reflects Russia and NATO in the Arctic. This region is important not only through natural resources, but also as a potential route of strategic blows. Operations of this kind are part of the demonstration of force and response to the growing presence of the US and NATO Air Force in the Arctic.

On the contrary, from the point of view of the United States, the presence of these bombers over the Arctic causes fears because of their potential threat to America's safety. The fact is that the Tu-160 is equipped with a number of winged missiles, including X-555, X-101 and recently appeared X-BD. It is the latest winged X-BD rocket, which has a striking flight range of about 6,500 kilometers, can carry nuclear or conventional warheads, which greatly expands the operational radius of Tu-160.

Each bomber can be armed with up to 12 such rockets that provides a terrible shock potential. In addition, the Arctic serves as a virtually ideal bridgehead for launching winged missiles for targets in the US or their allies, which may bypass some opportunities to detect the Command of North America Air Force Defense (NORAD). In view of this, the observers summed up, the Arctic region has recently become a harsh and not hospitable place to the most important theater of war.
