A briefing for diplomats on ways to counteract the shadow tanker fleet of the Russian Federation took place in the Presidential Office

Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Igor Zhovkva and Advisor - Presidential Commissioner for sanction policy Vladislav Vlasyuk spent a briefing for heads and representatives of foreign diplomatic institutions in Ukraine, dedicated to strengthening sanctions against the shadow tanker fleet of Russia.

The event was represented by Argentina, Brazil, Great Britain, Greece, Denmark, Estonia, India, Italy, Canada, Republic of Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Netherlands, Germany, Norway, South Africa, Poland, USA, Turkey , France, Sweden, Japan and EU.   Igor Zhovkva noted that the sanction pressure on the Russian Federation is one of the key issues that the President of Ukraine discusses during meetings and telephone conversations with partner leaders.

He also stressed that sanctions decisions are very important. “But we all understand that the sanction pressure on Russian oil is not enough, it must be strengthened. An outdated tanker fleet poses a threat to the environment - we saw this during an incident in the Kerch Strait. It should not be repeated, ”said the deputy head of the Presidential Office.

  Vladislav Vlasyuk noted that the shadow fleet of the Russian Federation consists of more than 600 vessels, which transport about 90 % of Russian oil. Thus, at the export of oil and petroleum products, the aggressor state earned $ 180 billion. Hard sanctions against the shadow fleet are the key to restoring peace, ”Vladislav Vlasyuk said. Ukraine and international partners propose to reduce the marginal price for Russian oil to $ 40.

The United States for barrel, apply sanctions to the captains of shadow fleet and crafts, strengthen control over the availability of appropriate tanker insurance and use the ability to limit the passage of tankers included in the black lists of international port controls.
