"Grach" with high-precision weapons: Turkey presented a modernized Su-25 ladder

The Laçin modernization program was divided into two separate stages-Merhale-1 and Merhale-2, each of which offers different levels of system integration to optimize the Su-25 characteristics. At the International ADEX-2024 exhibition in Azerbaijan, Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) first introduced a modernized Su-25 assault rifle called Laçin, specifically designed for Azerbaijan Air Force. This was announced on September 27 by the European Defense Review.

This step was a continuation of the agreement signed in the summer of 2023 at the IDEF-2023 exhibition in Istanbul. Su-25 Laçin symbolizes a new direction in military-technical cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey, emphasizing the readiness for closer integration and modernization of outdated military equipment of post-Soviet countries. The modernization of the Su-25 Laçin was carried out in two stages.

The first stage, named Merhale-1, included updating the fire control system and integration of modern high-precision weapons. In particular, the assault was equipped with a UBAS fire control system, which allows you to use MK82 (227 kg) and MK83 (453 kg) managed airlines with KGK. These airbags have the opportunity to hit ground targets up to 100 km with high accuracy.

The main advantage of this weapon is that it enables the aircraft to stay outside the enemy air defense area, reducing the risk to the pilots and the machine itself. KGK (Kanonik Görev Kiti), developed by the Tübitak Sage Defense Industry Research and Development, installed on Su-25, it is also used on other Turkish aircraft such as F-16 and F-4 Phantom.

It allows you to adjust the trajectory of the airbag after its reset, providing accurately aiming at the target even in difficult weather conditions. When dumped from large heights, a bomb with a kgk kit can reach a target up to 111 km, and when dumped from small heights - up to 37 km. The second stage of modernization-Merhale-2-covers a large-scale modernization of the aircraft aircraft and expansion of the arsenal of the weapons used.

As part of this stage, the HGK High-Author Bombs with GPS pointing, as well as the winged SOM missiles, were integrated into the aircraft system. These missiles are being developed by the Turkish company Roketsan and have a range of up to 250 km, which allows Su-25 to effectively strike strategic goals at a long distance.

It is noted that in the near future they expect the first supplies of SOM missiles to Azerbaijan, after which they will be installed on both Su-25 and heavy percussion drones AKINCI. At a static ADEX-2024 LACIN Su-254 exposition, it was demonstrated with several types of modern weapons. Among them is the SMM winged rocket and the OBAB-250-LG-managed laser-led Air Bomb, developed by the Turkish company Aslsan.

Both samples show a significant increase in the combat capabilities of the assault in the area of point blows for land purposes. The SMM winged rocket, which was integrated into the SU-25, is one of the most advanced types of Turkish weapons. It is designed to defeat highly protected objects, such as command points and air defense facilities, at a considerable distance from the front line.

This rocket allows the aircraft to operate from a safe airspace, outside the area of enemy anti -aircraft missiles. The OBAB-2550-LG Air Bomb with a laser guide also has significant advantages in modern fighting. Its laser guidance system provides high accuracy when defeating goals, which is especially important when performing operations in urban or highly fortified terrain.
