According to the Russians, a low -power laser could destroy UAVs with machine vision and satellite connection, against which powerless remedies of EW. In the Russian Federation they want to fight unmanned aerial vehicles, "dazzling" them with portable mobile devices with a low -power laser. The technology was offered in the collection of articles of the Russian Research Competition "Best Research Articles 2024".

The material states that there are currently no mobile optical systems to counteract drones that would be aimed at small goals and are able to protect a separate machine by blinding the drone cameras. Expensive anti -aircraft missiles, as well as large systems of radio electronic wrestling (HRB), which are powerless against UAVs with satellite communications and drones with automatic complementing, are used to fight the drones.

Given cases where UAVs cannot be destroyed by rockets and HRs, the article authors propose to create "laser volume mobile devices" that the military could carry with them or attach to military equipment. According to them, these devices could "blind" drones and fading ammunition at a distance of hundreds of meters with a low -power laser.

"At the end stage of the UAV approach to the moving target, the volume curtain mounted on the target will blind it and turn it sideways, and the UAV will fly past the target. High speeds in this area will not allow the UAV operator to react, or UAV will not be enough space. The blinding of the drone will cause it to fall to the ground and will not hit the target, " - explained the authors of the material. The material also presents the schemes of the mentioned weapons.

The device includes a block of a row-personality scan consisting of a housing divided into two parts. At the bottom of the housing is a block of control and synchronization of rotation of two engines of polygonal mirrors of a string scan and the engine of rotation of a correct quadrangular mirror prism of the staffing scan.

At the top is the block of a row-personality scan, consisting of two lasers and two quadrangular polygonal mirrors of horizontal scanning, which take a laser beam and unfold it into the horizontal plane of the beam. The device is designed to form a light curtain at a height of up to 100 m. According to the calculations of the Russians, at the clear atmosphere and zero angle of incidence of the beam, the laser power of about 5 watts is enough to illuminate the drone chamber in a radius of 1 km.

The article states that such a system does not require an operator. The device is constantly scanning its area of ​​space, waiting for the drones to pass through the area controlled by it to "blind" or to disable UAV. It is expected that such a system will cost up to $ 30,000.

"The space of the spatial and volume curtain is compact enough to be used as portable weapons for soldiers and officers, or it can be installed on armor, which makes small army groups and separate armored vehicles safe from drones,"-summed up the article. We will remind, in the Russian Federation the characteristics of laser weapons "Peresvet" were revealed, stating that it can dazzle satellite intelligence systems in orbits, thus covering strategically important military facilities.
