On Monday, August 8, the Chinese military said they continue their studies in the sea and in the sky around Taiwan. They had to end on Sunday. China's teaching zones are located around Taiwan and partially overlap the areas that Taiwan considers its territorial waters. Taiwan's power accused China in de facto blockade, but its army is now in normal mode.
On July 31, the speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi went on a tour of Asia. There was no visit to Taiwan in the official program. However, on the evening of August 2, the plane from Pelosi on board landed at Taiwan Airport. Pelosi's visit to Taiwan is the first trip of a US level representative to the island since 1997.
On July 28, Chinese state media reported that China's leader Xi Jinping had warned US President Joe Biden about the consequences of "intervention" in Taiwan, saying that the White House Head was "playing with fire". Beijing warned Washington of the inadmissibility of Pelosi's visit to Taiwan. Taiwan is a partially recognized state that China considers its territory.
