The founders of American IT companies VEEAM Software and Object First Andriy Baronov and Ratmir Timashev abandoned Russian citizenship. Earlier, Baronov wrote on social networks, which does not support the invasion of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation into Ukraine and criticized fighting. Entrepreneurs have become eighth and ninth businessmen among the current and former participants of the Forbes list, who have passed Russian passports in the last two years.

The fact that businessmen gave up citizenship, their acquaintance told. He also said that they had undergone a procedure for refusing to the Russian Embassy in the Republic of Cyprus and now the only Cypriot citizenship remained in businessmen. The entrepreneurs themselves have lived abroad for a long time: Baronov in Switzerland, and Timashev - in the United States. Baronov still reported that he filed documents for citizenship.

"I am a private person and never make public comments especially about politics. I make a rare exception, because it is deeply impressed with the Russian war in Ukraine. I officially submitted all the documents necessary for the abandonment of Russian citizenship," the businessman wrote. In addition, Baronov critically spoke about the war and reported that he had donated millions of dollars to authoritative humanitarian organizations that helped the Ukrainians.

Since the beginning of 2022, Russian citizenship has been abandoned. Previously, this decision was made by billionaires Timur Turlov (Freedom Holding), Yuri Milner (DST Global), Nikolai Storonsky (Revolut), Igor Makarov ("Aretie" ("Aretie"), founder of Coalco Vasily Anisimov, founder of "Troika Dialog", Ruben Warthard Bank's shadowoff Oleg Tinkov. In 2020, Forbes estimated Andrei Baronov's fortune at $ 770 million, and Ratmir Timashev at $ 680 million.

The basis of their wealth is the income from the sale of VEEAM Software with the Venture Fund from the US Insight Partners in 2020 for five billion dollars. VEEAM Software specializes in the development of software products for data management, safe storage and backup. Timashev and Baronov founded VEEAM in 2006. In February 2023, the partners founded Object First in the United States. It develops a software backup software with protection against VEEAM customers.
