Women in drivers and loaders: how the labor market changes in Ukraine against the background of war

Due to the ongoing war, increased mobilization and migration, there is an acute shortage of working personnel in Ukraine. Especially suffers, traditionally considered "masculine". According to experts surveyed, the replacement in the men's professions will be sought not only among women. In the Kiev subway will increase the traffic interval of trains due to lack of drivers. This was reported in a utility. According to the subway, in Ukraine an acute shortage of specialists of working professions.

In particular, it is about machinists, electromechanics, turns and locksmiths. The job search sites are: "The reason for increasing the number of vacancies is partially forced migration, specifics of professions and mobilization work in connection with martial law. - note in the subway. The underground is far from the only industry that was seriously affected by the mobilization and migration of Ukrainians, due to the continuing Russian-Ukrainian war.

According to the President of the All -Ukrainian Association of International Employment Companies Vasyl Voskoboynik, today it is safe to say that Ukrainian business is experiencing a lack of personnel - from handymen to qualified specialists in all areas. "According to sociological research, almost 74% of business representatives faced a shortage of employees, in connection with mobilization and forced migration. Lack of personnel is observed in many industries.

But especially where most of the work was performed by men - at construction sites, metallurgical plants , on "New Mail", says the expert. Europe noted that some employees were fired after the recruitment managers approached them with summons in the Tax Code. Update data in the CCC, they can be fined. The company noted that they are trying to break the paradigm, according to which only men can do some work.

Thousands of vacancies for drivers, loaders, warehouses, drivers and other traditionally "male" areas are on the job search sites in Ukraine. There is also a problem in service centers engaged in the repair of gadgets. The other day, focus staff was refused to repair the laptop, explaining that, unfortunately, there are no more experts who had done this work in the office. They were either mobilized or they were released.

According to a wax worker, for work that is not related to heavy physical labor or harmful production, employers can hire women as well as people aged 60+ and people with disabilities. This can partially reduce business pressure. However, it is impossible to quickly replace men in women in various fields. Years can take it. And the business at this time will be forced to give up orders, or look for the opportunity to employ foreigners.

The expert notes that there are many countries in the world where living standards are much lower than in Ukraine. And the leadership of the country will have to decide which migrants from which countries in the future they would like to attract to work in Ukraine. For example, there are Central Asia countries that were part of the USSR. Africa or India where people may be interested in finding work abroad.

However, in the case of employment of migrants who could fill the staff shortage, there are several problems. First, as the idea will be perceived by Ukrainians. "While men are being taken to the front, foreigners will appear in the country, which do not fall under mobilization. In addition, migrants from Central Asia who could come to Ukraine have previously worked in the Russian Federation, which could be a risk for internal security.

"If we talk about the future, we need, in particular, highly qualified staff that we could attract from EU countries. If large construction campaigns enter Ukraine, they will be able to bring their office that will be engaged in project work. However, it is difficult to find business today. cleaners, "the expert adds. According to experts, the lack of personnel could solve economic booking, which various experts have long been talking about.

This would allow you to save skilled personnel and fill the budget. However, according to media information, citing sources in the Presidential Office, the authorities intend to abandon this idea in connection with the General Staff. The country's military leadership, according to journalists, believes that it will not be possible to solve the problem with the lack of personnel.

On the contrary, the idea of economic booking will be seen as an official ransom from mobilization and will cause a negative reaction in the army. "Now the idea of economic reservation has been abandoned at all, because it was strongly opposed to the General Staff. But $ 5 billion, which will not fall into the budget because of it, needs to be covered with something. I think that the increase in taxes will partially solve this problem," - said the source in the President's office.
