Risk Source: Lithuanian President called for sanctions against Belarus on a level with the Russian Federation

According to Naused, Minsk's actions are dangerous. He conducts training with the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, provided the territory for the offensive on Ukraine, and destabilizes the situation on the borders. This requires response in the form of rigid restrictions. Belarus is a source of risks for Europe, so sanction restrictions should be increased in the near future.

This was stated by Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda during a press conference with Ukrainian colleague Vladimir Zelensky in Kiev. According to him, Vilnius intends to do everything to ensure that sanctions against Minsk are approaching one level with Russia, because the country on the European continent is a threat to other states.

The President of Lithuania reminded that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the Armed Forces have been conducting joint military exercises for many years, and it was from this territory that the Russian invaders began a full -scale war in February 2022, trying to seize Kiev. The President of Belarus also directs illegal migrants to the borders of Lithuania to destabilize the situation, Gitanas Nauseda continued.

Vilnius neutralized Minsk's attempts, but this does not mean that in the future such incidents will not be repeated. "But these operations simply moved to the border with Poland, and neither Poland nor the EU can tolerate it. Therefore, we look at this state without illusions and understand that it is another source of risks for all of us," President Lithuania said.

In connection with the above problems, Vilnius intends to continue to speak at all sites about the need to strengthen sanctions against Belarus on a par with Russia. The EU recently approved a new package of sanctions against Minsk, but Vilnius requires more severe restrictions. We will remind, on August 27 it was reported that Alexander Lukashenko declared the proposal of the event about the transition to the side of Ukraine.

According to him, European politicians allegedly offered the President of Belarus to "spit" on Russia and to allow NATO to stand on the border of the Smolensk region. He assured that he gave up 99% of the proposals. On September 10, Lieutenant General and Former Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces Sergey Naev replied whether the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation could re-attack Ukraine from Belarus.
