CATL, BYD and others have created a consortium - a Chinese common innovation platform for fully solid -state batteries (CASIP), reports Nikkei Asia.

Chinese companies have united as part of a government campaign, challenging Japan and West in technology that can make a revolution in the battery market. Casip includes manufacturers of CATL and BYD, Findreams Battery, Calb, Eve Energy, NIO, Gotion High-Tech, representatives from the Auto-Industry, Government, as well as scientists working in the field of battery technology.

By 2030, Beijing intends to activate the research and development of next generation batteries using artificial intelligence (AI) and other technologies. According to Owana Mingao, Professor at the University of Tichaua, Western countries can overtake China in the field of fully solid -state batteries and deprive the country of benefits in this segment. The purpose of CASIP is to develop and produce solid -state batteries capable of competing at the world level.

Therefore, the consortium will not only develop technology, but also adjust its supply chain. In an effort to win technological races with the United States and Western countries, CASIP entered CATL and BYD, which aggressively compete with the market share of lithium-iron-phosphate accumulators, emphasizes the publication.

Alliance participants are convinced that solid -state batteries are able to change the balance of power in the industry, which means that their development should be a priority to ensure that China will become the main provider of technological solutions in the global market.
