Accuracy: Armed Forces Fighters noted the efficiency of British SAU AS90 (video)

Ukraine received a total of 32 AS90 artillery systems. Their characteristics, experts say, emphasize the decisive role of advanced artillery in the modern war. Ukrainian fighters recognize that British 155 mm AS90 has a significant advantage in the precision and range of firing compared to artillery systems 2C1 "Carnation" and 2C3 "Acacia" of the Soviet period. Army recognition enforcement officers write about it.

In particular, the advantage is explained by the fact that AS90 uses conventional L15A1/2 shells, which have greater aerodynamics and are able to fly further than even American M107 shells. The authors of the publication noted that Ukraine received a total of 32 AS90 artillery systems. Of these, 20 were repaired in the United Kingdom to ensure full combat capability, and the remaining 12 were set to remove and install spare parts on existing machines.

As for the units, at least one Ukrainian of them, namely the 3rd assault brigade, actively uses AS90 artillery systems after studying in the UK. "The characteristics of these artillery systems emphasize the decisive role of advanced artillery in the modern war, especially in a conflict, which is characterized by both ordinary and asymmetric tactics," the observers write.

The self-propelled 155-mm gun, which is capable of shooting standard NATO ammunition, including fugas, smoke and lighting shells. The maximum range of howitzers AS90 is 24. 7 km when using standard charges and up to 30 km when using active reactive ammunition. The SAU is equipped with modern fire and navigation management systems, which allows it to quickly process the shelling and accurately impress the goals, even in adverse weather conditions or at night.

The maximum shooting rate is reached in volley mode - 3 shots in 10 seconds. In this case, for a few minutes the crew can provide a pace of up to 5-6 shots per minute. The howitzer is equipped with a Cummins VTA-903T diesel engine, which provides a maximum speed on a highway about 53 km/h and off-road speed of about 30 km/h, which provides good strategic and tactical mobility.
