Ukraine will earn on frozen assets of the Russian Federation abroad: which EU country will help in this

Ukraine will soon receive EUR 1. 7 billion from Belgium from the taxation of frozen Russian assets. Belgium will create a special fund of 1. 7 billion euros for Ukraine. It will be filled with taxes from Russian assets frozen in the country. This was stated on October 11 during a joint briefing with President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky Prime Minister of the country Oleksandr de Kroo. According to him, in Belgium taxes on income of frozen assets of the Russian Federation will be given to Ukraine.

"Last year, it became obvious to us that income taxes on these assets should be 100% aimed at helping the Ukrainian people. We did it last year and do it this year," De Croo said. He explained that money received from Russian assets would be given to Ukraine as part of military and humanitarian aid. The funds, as De Croo said, to the European Peace Fund, from which the Ukrainian economy is financially supported.

At the same time, Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Belgium is the first country to use frozen Russian assets in favor of Ukraine. "The funds will be aimed at the safety of our country, the projections of a quick recovery. We would already like to use this money. The first funds in the amount of EUR 1. 7 billion will be used next year," he said.

It should be noted that US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, Presidential Administration Joe Baiden and EU leadership, study the legal grounds for transferring $ 300 billion frozen abroad Russian assets. According to him, legal grounds are required to transfer assets. "Since most of these assets are in Europe, Europeans should also be convinced that there is a legal basis for this," he said.
