Was there a chance for peace in Istanbul 2022? As Russia tries to impose its end conditions of war

In April, the Western press exploded by publications about the breakdown of peace talks in Istanbul in the spring of 2022. Political scientist Volodymyr Fesenko considers it not accidental - it is part of the Kremlin's operation aimed at promoting its conditions of peace on April 16 in the famous American edition "Foreign Affairs" an article with a eloquent name "Negotiations that could end the war in Ukraine" appeared.

The subtitle was also a landmark: "The hidden history of diplomacy, which turned out to be short, but gives lessons for future negotiations. " On April 26, an article with an equally indicative name "The Secret Document that could complete the war" appeared in the famous German edition "Die Welt". Both articles discussed peace talks between Russia and Ukraine in the spring of 2022.

And the "secret document", which is the main and sensational source of information for both publications - the project of a peace treaty of April 15, 2022. And if in the article in "Foreign Affairs" at least delicately mention that it is a Russian project of a peace treaty, then "Die Welt" calls this "document" almost a concerted treaty that was thwarted by opponents of peace, like Boris Joneson.

Both publications have caused considerable resonance, and the article in Die Welt, in particular, in Ukraine. It is hardly the appearance of both sexes on the same topic, with the same "secret document" as the main source of information is a coincidence. As for the "secret document", it is a Russian project of a peace treaty, which Putin showed to TV cameras last summer during a meeting with African leaders.

Even then, meticulous journalists discovered the video recording that the "document", which Putin showed like a parish agreement, has a "project" and date on April 15. The fact that it is a Russian project of a peace treaty, of course, from the content of publications and is directly recognized in the article in "Foreign Affairs". However, in the article in Die Welt, it is called an almost agreed contract.

What is the agreement, if both publications recognize that the Ukrainian side has rejected a number of points of this "treaty". Since this is a Russian project, it was only the Russian side to pass it on the authors of "Foreign Affairs" and "Die Welt". In this regard, the logical question arises: what was the purpose of it? And why right now? The purpose of this "leak" "secret document" is clear of the tone and content of the mentioned articles.

The two main meanings of these publications: 1) the war could be completed two years ago if the "almost agreed" peace treaty was signed; 2) negotiations in 2022 and the prepared peace treaty is a useful lesson, a good example for future peace talks. And the main hidden meaning of both publications is the acceptability of peace on Russian conditions.

And this means the refusal of Ukraine to membership in NATO, and, most importantly, such restrictions on the number and weapons of the Ukrainian army, which will not allow our country to protect themselves in the event of a new Russian attack. But the authors of the articles in "Foreign Affairs" and "Die Welt" does not care. They believe in Putin's contractuality, and hint (especially in the article "die Welt") on the contractual capacity of the Ukrainian side.

At the same time, the fact that, after the contractual games of spring 2022, it annexed all the territories that it occupied in 2022. And all the predictable agreements on the status of territories captured by Russia have lost any meaning. I would like to remind that then the Ukrainian side insisted on the withdrawal of Russian troops at the turn until February 24, 2022 and negotiations on the status of Crimea and the occupied territories of Donbass.

But it seems that the articles in Foreign Affairs and Die Welt do not care. And in the negative negotiation lessons in 2022, they simply close their eyes.

If you summarize all these circumstances, it becomes clear that the "leak" "secret document", made through publications in "Foreign Affairs" and "Die Welt"-is an information and psychological special operation (IPSO) of the Kremlin aimed at promoting Russian conditions The wars of Russia against Ukraine, and, accordingly, to the undermining of the Ukrainian position, "the formulas of peace of President of Zelensky. " And it explains why the mentioned publications have appeared right now.

Formal reason - the second anniversary of the Russian project of the peace treaty. This is very noticeable by dates. But the authors of both publications were probably ashamed to focus on this, as it would show that they work in Russian interests. And maybe they were used "dark", playing at their desire to publish sensational material.

In fact, the main interest of the Kremlin is not to be reminded of its project of the peace treaty, but to undermine the global peace of peace in Switzerland, which will be dedicated to the discussion of the "formula of peace of President Zelensky". The Kremlin seeks to impose its logic of end of war in Ukraine and its conditions of peace. In the future, peace talks are quite possible. But not on Russian conditions. Putin peace is a prelude to a new war.

We were already convinced of our own bitter experience. And supporters of peace negotiations in the West should not be tempted about peaceful rhetoric, which periodically from the Kremlin. Putin begins to talk about peace when he fails to achieve his goals in the military way. But at the same time, Putin tries to achieve peace on his own conditions and with the help of military blackmail. In order to achieve real peace and equal peace talks, the Putin "Peace Strategy" must be wrapped against it.

Putin should be forced to peace, military. The Kremlin ruler understands only the language of power. And before starting peace talks, the Russian army must be stopped. And the Kremlin must make sure that it will not be able to win Ukraine either now or in the future. And for this purpose, Ukraine's defense capability and support for Ukraine by our international partners should be maximum and now and in the post -war period.
