In the Russian Federation first implemented UAV management technology through a satellite: what does it give

Roscosmos claim that a new technological solution will allow you to track the location of drones where there are no other communication channels. The Russian Federation stated that they were first able to implement the technology of management of the unmanned aircraft through a satellite. This was reported by the press service of the Roscosmos State Corporation on Telegram on July 17. It is reported that the experiment was involved in the satellite system "Gonets" and the company "Geosan".

Geosan 201, equipped with an experimental onboard modem "Gonnets" and antenna in a special lightweight form factor, used for testing the technology. According to the Russian State Corporation, land tests and flights at the aerodrome were performed from July 13 to July 16. Experts evaluated the possibility of communication, transmission of telemetry data from board to a spacecraft and sending commands from the ground management station "Geosan" to UAV through the satellite.

As a result of the experiment, according to the Russians, the location data, telemetric data of the drone in the COD were transmitted through the satellite, and the command on the forced return of the drone to the starting point was sent. In total, 6 flights were made, 218 messages with the drone telemetry were received on the FTP server of the Gonets system and three information messages were transmitted with the control teams in the feedback flight.

Roscosmos emphasized that such technological solutions are needed to track the location of drones in places where other communication channels are not available. We will remind, the head of "Roscosmos" Yuriy Borisov stated that the Russian Federation aims to have about 2,600 satellites in orbit by 2036. The Russians plan to launch the sphere satellites that will provide satellite Internet as American Starlink or British Oneweb.
