War in Ukraine and car insurance: what must be paid to and what experts advise

Each type of insurance has its own peculiarities and is intended for a certain type of insurance protection. The wartime has brought its unique features to the choice of insurance, says the director of the retail business of the insurance company ingo Mykola Matika.

You drive your own car, but when it comes to choosing an insurance policy, what do you guide? How do you choose an insurance policy? The market has many different types of insurance and companies that have their own conditions, including coverage, restrictions and payments. And it is important to choose the right insurance coverage, because it is not just about financial aspects.

Director of the retail business of the insurance company Insurance company Ingo Mykola Matik, who proposes to take a few steps, will help to understand all the nuances, which will allow you to choose the right policy. Step 1. Assess the needs and risks before making a decision on the type of insurance, it is important not only to predict the risks of damage to your own car, but also to consciously analyze potential threats.

This may include an estimate of location, traffic conditions, type and age of the car, as well as an accident statistics in your area. Although risks can be a difficult task, it will help determine the minimum level of insurance. Step 2. Consider different types of insurance when choosing an insurance policy for the car owner, it is important to pay attention to different types of insurance, their advantages and disadvantages.

Each type of insurance has its own peculiarities and is intended for a certain type of insurance protection. Let's take a closer look at some of them. Compulsory civil liability insurance (OSPV) is mandatory for every car owner in Ukraine. This type of insurance covers damage caused to outsiders or property when using your car. That is, its main purpose is to protect you from the possible costs for damage that you can do to other road users - drivers, passengers or pedestrians.

However, this policy has a rather limited coating and does not include the cost of repairing its own car. The law establishes a limit for compensation for damage to property in the amount of 160 thousand UAH, and the life and health of people - 320 thousand UAH. Another (most important) disadvantage is to take into account the depreciation of the car when calculating the loss.

Currently, the current methodology implies that the amount of damage caused to take into account the wear of the car if it is older than five to seven years. In other words, the owner of the senior car will receive a smaller amount of compensation than the new one. However, this is far from reality, because in case of damage to the car, the cost of spare parts is the same for both older and newer machines. In the new law, this must be corrected, although its adoption is unknown.

Therefore, it is necessary to increase the limits of your protection with the help of additional low -cost voluntary insurance policies. For example, at an insurance company INGO for a minimum of 400 UAH can buy a policy "Automobile+", which will allow to expand the coverage in the amount of 100 thousand to 2 million UAH. Another policy called "Conscious Protection" will allow you to pay from INGO, if you are not the culprit of an accident, but the side has suffered.

It is profitable and faster than waiting for payment from another insurer. The OSCSC (Automobile) also involves compensation to the passengers of the affected cars in the event of injuries, death or disability as a result of an accident. But not a driver, a guilty road accident. There is another voluntary policy for this purpose - "safety belt".

It will provide payment to the persons who were in the car during an accident, if it turned out that the accident happened without the participation of another vehicle or the driver's wine. You can insure any number of seats in the car in any combination: only driver's seat, driver's seat and several passenger seats or all places. And even if you have an OSCSC policy, it does not prevent additional insurance payments on the security belt.

A separate policy is provided for traveling abroad, which is an analogy of the Ukrainian auto -volume, called the Green Card. The cost of this policy is clearly regulated by the motor transport insurance bureau of Ukraine (MTIBU), and only insurers that are full members can be released. Remember that the insurance limits of this policy operate in accordance with the local laws of each Member Country of the Green Card system.

Some Ukrainian insurers, such as INGO, offer additional concierge services together with the policy that assist the driver in the event of an accident abroad. Comprehensive automotive insurance (CASCO) is one of the best types of insurance because it provides broad protection against most risks, such as road accidents, uproots, falling foreign objects, natural disasters, unlawful actions of others and other problems. Hence its main drawback - the relative high cost of the policy.

As a rule, such a policy is profitable to buy for a car not over 3-4 years. Minicasco can be an alternative for those looking for protection for their own car at a more affordable price. However, it usually has a limited payment limit and does not include insurance coverage at other risks other than an accident. The hollow risk helmet can receive compensation for damages caused by rocket attacks, drone actions, devastating shock (sound) waves, fires and even military equipment.

In IGo, this policy is called "Hask. You can insure any car (or passenger vehicle park) with this program with up to 12 years (inclusive) and up to UAH 6 million. Instead, such a policy costs at least 1. 65% of the insurance amount (traditional Hull costs approximately 4% to 7. 5% and above). Of course, insurance will not be taken by cars operated in the temporarily occupied territory and in the areas where active fighting is underway.

The only drawback of such a policy is the refund limit, which is limited to UAH 3-6 million, depending on the number of insured cars. Step 3. Compare the conditions and cost when comparing insurance policies of different companies, it is important to study the conditions and cost of each. At the same time, you should pay attention to the following key aspects: Step 4.

Choose a reliable insurer when choosing an insurance company, it is important to consider its reputation, market experience and the ability to provide quality service. Here are some criteria that are worth paying attention to: appealing to professionals and a thorough study of the conditions of the insurance policy will help ensure reliable protection of your car and reduce financial risks in the future.
