The face of modern war: what lessons have taken out the US and Israel's experience - an expert

Military analyst Gary Anderson notes that the US Marines because of the lack of artillery and tanks may be unprepared for war as in Ukraine or the Gaza Sector. According to him, the military leadership "fell behind the wheel of" the moment of misapplication of American forces. The forces of the US Marine Corps are unlikely to be able to play a significant role in the modern war without the restructuring of troops within the Force Design 2030 program.

The military analyst and exchanger of the US Marine Corps Planning Department have told about it in more detail in Defense Post. The expert, first of all, pointed to the forecasts of the commander of the Marines General David Berger, who provided at the beginning of the war with the catastrophic defeat of Russian armored columns using anti -tank agents by Ukrainians. On the basis of this, he recommended to abandon the US Marine Corps.

However, the Armed Forces Command is likely to disagree, Anderson writes, as the tanks were number one on the list of wishes for the event. Ukrainians also skillfully use the general artillery of the average radius for ground maneuver. The only problem is in the amount of ammunition. And although Berger did not eliminate ordinary artillery, he sharply reduced the arsenal of the Corps of Marines.

Anderson then emphasized the peculiarities of the use of heavy armored vehicles of the Israeli army in the city building of the Gaza Sector. According to him, the US Marines can learn some lessons in the use of heavy engineering machines, although Americans used a similar tactic in the Iraq cities of Falludzh and Ramadi in the 1990s.

According to the expert, the tanks made it possible to maneuver in the city from the street to the street, providing shelter for infantry, and their protected armor machine guns suppressed the sniper positions of the enemy. At the same time, heavy sappers provided cleansing of rubble and large -scale breakthroughs, which allowed the shooters to move from the building to the building without being dangerous.

So far, the Israelis have not suffered great losses in the infantry, but if they make their intention to take up the enclave again, they will face a resistance that will require a large number of troops. Against this background, the number of troops becomes critical, Anderson is convinced. "The Marine Corps has reduced the number and size of its infantry battalions.

But city battles require greater forces, although there is a limit of the number of troops that can be taken to the city street at the same time. In such a place as the Gaza, can be easily used to maintain occupation. Three divisions will be needed, "the expert writes.

As a result, Anderson wonders whether the US Marine Corps will be ready to play a significant role in such a war, such as in Ukraine, or in a major city conflict, for example, in gas, giving up tanks, artillery and a large number of personnel.
