Andriy Yermak discussed with representatives of public organizations holding Russia accountable for committing environmental crimes in Ukraine

The head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak met with representatives of public organizations who take care of environmental and environmental protection. Participants discussed Russia's liability for committing environmental crimes during a full -scale invasion of Ukraine and the harm caused by the ecosystem and health of people. Andriy Yermak stressed that the issue of environmental protection is one of the ten points of the President Vladimir Zelensky peace formula.

According to the head of the office of the Head of State, the world is not fully aware of the scale of the threat to the ecological system of Ukraine, as well as risks for other countries that they are carved. That is why this issue should be the subject of discussion at all international sites. “The damage that has already been caused by the Ukrainian ecosystem is calculated by billions of dollars.

This should be a component of reparations, which we will demand from Russia, ”said Andrei Yermak. He expressed his belief that the environmental factor should play an important role in the formation of pro -Ukrainian position of individual countries in the world, which have still adhered to the neutrality in the issue of war in Ukraine.

#StopecideUkraine initiative coordinator Alexander Todorchuk noted that Russia purposefully destroys the environment in our country, and this problem should be actively discussed internationally. According to him, the #stopecocideUkraine initiative has held a number of events in different countries to draw attention to Russian ecocide in Ukraine. In addition, the draft appeal of the Verkhovna Rada to international institutions on condemning environmental crimes of Russia was developed.

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Ruslan Streach, who also joined the meeting, informed the participants about the losses that Russia caused the environment in Ukraine. He emphasized the importance of integration into the Ukrainian legislation The concept of ecosystem services - goods that citizens can receive from the ecosystem.

The chairman of the NGO All -Ukrainian Ecological League Tatiana Tymochko supported the idea of ​​developing a mechanism for calculating compensation for the damage caused to the environment in Ukraine. Advisor to the Prosecutor General Maxim Popov noted that the Office of the Prosecutor General provides procedural guidance on 104 criminal proceedings on the facts of the damage caused to the environment by the aggressor.

According to him, constant work with international organizations in this direction is underway. Andriy Yermak proposed to hold a conference in Kyiv with the participation of representatives of Ukrainian and international environmental organizations and present the concept of compensation for environmental losses on it.
