In the fall of 2022 the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation began to use drones-Kamikadze Iranian production for the task of blows in Ukraine, in particular in critical infrastructure. And at the beginning of 2023 there was information that the plant for the creation of such UAVs could appear in Russia, probably in the city of Elabuga in Tatarstan, and will produce about 6000 aircraft a year.
Production will open access to a large number of drones-Kamikadze and increase the pressure on Ukrainian air defense systems and other military structures. It is much faster and more reliable than the delivery of UAV from Iran in view of the sanctions and complexity of logistics. In addition, Russia will be easier to receive spare parts and repair broken UAVs, having such a technical base.
Probably, at first, the plant will collect the drones of Shahd-131 and Shahd-136, which is already used by the Russian army, but in the future production will expand modifications or other models that have greater speed and range of flight.
The expected enterprise for production in Elabuz is near the Kama River, which is interesting in view of the trend of Iran to build the most important defense enterprises along with the water source, such as the production of missiles in Tehran, Barchin and Baniasi. It is possible that the Russian plant will soon be able to produce, except drones, also rockets.
In addition, the company will also expand the industrial network of Iran, which includes factories in Tajikistan, Syria and Venezuela, and will open new supply channels through Russia. The creation of a joint ventilation enterprise will greatly strengthen the relationship between Russia and Iran in the field of defense, which can lead to a full partnership.
In addition, the emergence of an Iranian plant in the Russian Federation will lead to the emergence of large military complexes in the immediate vicinity of NATO countries and will create a great danger to the Alliance's eastern flank, as well as the access of Russians to more long -range drones than Shahed. For example, Russia may pass Iran's advanced Western weapons, captured in Ukraine, which in the long run can deprive NATO technological advantage.
Back in January, the Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Alexei Danilov stated that Russia plans to establish the production of Shahd drones. According to Ukrainian intelligence, the enterprise should appear in the city of Togliatti of Samara region. In early February, information emerged that Russia and Iran were discussing the construction of a plant in Elabuz.
