The Russians use the WhatsApp messenger to lure the victims with false petitions...

Russian hackers are trying to steal the Armed Forces data through WhatsApp: How not to get into the trap

The Russians use the WhatsApp messenger to lure the victims with false petitions about the assignment of the titles of the Hero of Ukraine to fallen soldiers, often masking under acquaintances. The Ukrainian military and the ITIKO, known on the social network X near Nick, "Mr.

Ilon Oint", revealed the fraudulent scheme of Russians from WhatsApp, who try to obtain personal data of the defense officials under the guise of proposals for the title of the Hero of Ukraine through the fallen warriors through petitions. He wrote about it in H. According to Mr. Ilona Masa in X (ex-floor), the scheme works as follows.

Ukrainians receive a message from someone from their list of contacts with a request to sign a petition for assignment of the title of Hero of Ukraine to the Armed Forces Officer. Under the report is a link that is very similar to the real one. When you move on this link, the user gets to the phishin web page that asks him a phone number to sign a petition. Then, to confirm the correctness of the phone number entered, the page asks for copying and inserting into a special digital code window.

If a person performs these actions, he will attach a new device to his account in the messenger. The hackers will then access the account and correspondence. With correspondence information, hackers are able to arrange phishing attacks on the Ukrainian military with whom the victim communicated, and, later, to take possession of his account. The Russians will be able to write on behalf of a Ukrainian serviceman, says Mr. Ilon Mazol.
