The exchange of prisoners: The ISW explained why the Russian Federation accuses Ukraine of the absence of cooperation

Analysts of the Institute of War (ISW) in a report published on May 29 were told about the exchanging of prisoners of war. Analysts at first reminded how the Russians treat prisoners of Ukrainians: shooting, selling, forcing them to fight on their side. At the same time, the Russian Ombudsman Tatiana Moskalkova stated that Ukraine refuses to exchanges.

On the other hand, in Ukraine they have already created the third camp for the maintenance of the excess Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, because the previous sites are no longer enough. The ISW report named four possible reasons for the Kremlin official's statement: "The Kremlin uses a policy of exchange of prisoners of war as another rhetorical technique to undermine decision -making in Ukraine," the report reads.

The ISW portal described the behavior of the Russian Federation on prisoners. For example, by violating the Geneva Convention, the Soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation shoots the fighters of defense forces captured on the battle line. In addition, the Russians arranged trading prisoners: they give people to receive money from their family. Another area of ​​actions of the Kremlin is the creation of units that seem to be recruited by Ukrainians captured in the war.
