As Reuters writes on Monday, August 8, after the analysis of the weapon that the defenders of Ukraine were captured or taken out of the battlefield since the start of a full -scale war, it turned out that 27 units components. According to Rusi, about two -thirds of components are produced by American companies. Almost a quarter of the western components was created by American manufacturers of Analog Devices and Texas Instruments.

Other components are made by companies from Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands. "The Russian weapon, which is almost entirely dependent on Western electronics, has led to the death of thousands of Ukrainians," said Rusi Jack Wtling. British analysts suggest that after increasing export restrictions on Russia's aggressor, it will be more difficult to replenish their arms arsenal, including winged missiles.

Rusi found that one of the most modern Russian winged 9M727 missiles contains 31 foreign components made by American companies Texas Instruments Inc and Advanced Micro Devices Inc (AMD), as well as Cypress Semiconductor. 31 foreign details, including Intel and Xilinx (AMD owned), also found X-101 in Russian winged rocket. When asked how their chips got into Russian weapons, the company said they adhere to trade restrictions and no longer sell Russia's components.

Analog devices said she stopped business in Russia and instructed to stop supply to the country. Texas Instruments said they adhere to the laws of the countries where they work and that the details found in Russian weapons are designed for commercial products. Intel reported that they do not allow the use of their products to violate human rights.

AMD responded to journalists that she strictly adheres to all export control measures, and Infineon is "deeply concerned" if its components are used for a purpose for which they are not intended. The analytical group notes that Russian companies could buy many foreign components before the invasion of Ukraine through local or international distributors, as they can be used for non -war purposes.

At the same time, since 2014, more than 80 microchips produced in the West were under the export control of the United States, and they needed a license for their supply to Russia, and manufacturers had to check and make sure that their products would not be used by the Russian army.

According to Rusi's conclusions, the military machine of the aggressor country still depends on foreign microchips, and Western countries have not hurried to restrict Russia's access to these technologies after the occupation of Crimea in 2014. Reuters notes that after the start of a full -scale invasion of February 24, 2022, the United States, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and European countries have introduced a ban on the sale of microchips.

The report also states that Russia is now trying to access the Western microchips in other ways, for example, through distributors in Asia, such as Hong Kong. In June, The Washington Post reported that the management of a number of Western technological companies asked about computer chips found in drones, tanks, radio stations and residues of winged missiles that the Russian Federation used when invading Ukraine.
