"Date will be agreed": Putin's visit to Turkey is postponed - Peskov

According to the Kremlin speaker, the trip of the President of the Russian Federation, which has been postponed twice from the end of last year, should be his first visit to the NATO member country since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine. The visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Turkey, which was supposed to take place in the near future, will be held in late April or early May.

This was stated at a briefing by Vladimir Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov, reports the Russian edition "Interfax". According to the source, it is expected that the meeting of the two leaders may take place in late April or early May, after the local elections in Turkey, scheduled for March 31, and the presidential elections in Russia, scheduled for March 17.

On Thursday, February 8, the Kremlin speaker Dmitry Peskov reported that preparing for a meeting between President Putin and Turkish President Erdogan is ongoing, but has not yet been given a visit. "Moscow and Ankara will be announced about the terms of the visit just, naturally, taking into account the electoral cycle in us and the tense work schedule of the Turkish President will be agreed," Peskov said.

Putin's trip, which has been postponed twice from the end of last year, should be Putin's first visit to NATO member country since the beginning of a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine in February 2022. It should be reminded that in December 2023 the media wrote that Turkish President Recep TaiP Erdogan plans to talk to the Russian leader Vladimir Putin soon.
