Hungary refuses to finance the supply of weapons to Ukraine: the Foreign Ministry called the reason

Ukraine's decisions to make OTP Bank to the list of international sponsors of war in Budapest are considered scandalous and unacceptable. Hungary does not intend to promote the financing of the European Union for the supply of weapons to Ukraine until the Ukrainian authorities are excluded by the OTP Bank from the List of International Sponsors of War. This was stated at the press conference by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siarto, informs Világggazdaság.

He called the most outrageous situation about this institution. Budapest considers this decision scandalous and unacceptable. Siyarto noted that Hungary is doing everything possible to help the Ukrainian people. According to him, the Hungarian people allegedly pay for a war that is not relevant, and the largest Hungarian bank is listed in such a shameful list, so the reaction is appropriate.

"Our position is clear: until the OTP is removed from this list, Hungary will not contribute to any additional funding for the EU to supply weapons to Ukraine," he explained. The Ukrainian National Agency for Prevention of Corruption in May announced that OTP Bank has included in the list of international war sponsors. Experts have determined that the financial institution continues to work in Russia and recognizes the "independence" of Russia -occupied units of Lugansk and Donetsk regions.

In addition, the Hungarian bank may provide preferential terms of lending to the Russian servicemen. Hungary subsequently blocked a tranche of military assistance to Ukraine from the EU Fund in connection with this decision. The country did not support the payment of regular military assistance tranche to Ukraine from the EU Fund (EPF) of about 500 million euros due to the introduction of Hungarian OTP Bank by Ukrainians on the black list.
