For the first time in history: Ukraine will pass half a million frozen assets of the Russian Federation through Estonia

The US Ministry of Justice noted that the relevant funds were confiscated in the case of a network of illegal procurement of high -precision machines for the military industry of the Russian Federation. For the first time in history, the United States will pass the confiscated Russian assets that will support Ukraine. This was reported at the US Department of Justice.

At the Munich Security Conference on February 17, the Deputy Prosecutor General of the US Lisa Monaco and Estonia Secretary General Tinis Saar reported a redistribution of $ 500,000, obtained from the confiscation of Russian assets. The US Ministry of Justice noted that the relevant funds were confiscated in the case of a network of illegal procurement of high -precision machines for the military industry of the Russian Federation.

"This transmission is the first of the United States to transmit to a foreign ally for a clear purpose of assisting Ukraine," the statement said. The US Ministry adds that Estonia will use funds for the project aimed at accelerating the assessment of losses and critically important repair of the Ukrainian distribution system and transmission of electricity, which has repeatedly become the target of missile attacks of Russian invaders.

"Today's statement demonstrates the unwavering determination of the United States and our Estonian partners to block Putin President access to Western technologies that he relied on to keep an illegal war against Ukraine," said Lisa Monaco. Recall that in October 2023 the EU and the US confirmed their intentions to transfer income from frozen assets of Russia.
