This was announced on January 9 by ZBiam with reference to the official document of the office of the Seimas of Poland. It is noted that the refusal of wheel SAU is due to the analysis of hostilities in Ukraine. At the same time, the Polish National Defense Ministry stated that at this stage the priority is to create a "shock capacity" on the basis of tracked 155-mm howitzers Krab Polish production, as well as their South Korean counterparts K9 Thunder.
Thus, the program of technical re-equipment of the Polish Armed Forces for the period of 2021-2035 does not provide for the purchase of Kryl wheel SAU, which has been spent millions of zlotys on the program of creation. At the same time, the possibility of their purchase after 2035 is considered.
The Kryl Wheel Development Program, which started as part of the Dywizjonowy Moduł Ogniyowy Initiative, 155 MM Armatohaubic Samobieżnych (Divisional Fire Module 155 mm of self-propelled howitzers), completed 2022. The concept included the use of wheel systems in a number of artillery units to increase mobility and reduce the cost of maintenance. However, the full -scale war in Ukraine has changed Poland's approach to equipping artillery units.
In a modern conflict, where mobility is often combined with high crew protection requirements, tracked systems, such as Krab and K9 Thunder, probably showed higher efficiency. Although the document does not specify why the military came to this conclusion.
Meanwhile, according to another Polish edition of FORSAL, parliamentarians wished to find out at the Deputy Minister of Defense Pavel Baid, what the fate of the Kryl program, especially since experts, this type of equipment proved to show itself during the war in Ukraine. Earlier it was reported that, according to Ukrainian artillerymen, more than 3,000 shots were spent during the year of hostilities during the performance of various tasks of the Bogdan.
