US will not endlessly equip Ukraine - isw
For comparison, from the beginning of a full -scale Russian invasion in February 2022, the United States allocated $ 113 billion in Ukraine, 75 billion of which went to humanitarian, financial and military support. The rest of the 38 billion government was directed to funding for security assistance - these funds mostly went to the United States, local companies and staff.
European partners continue to increase their support for Ukraine, but at the same time, US assistance in the short term seems vital so that Ukraine can build its defense and industrial base. According to ISW estimates, the US will not have to send large security packages to Kiev for an unlimited period, if Ukraine continues to create internal weapons production, build bilateral relations in the defense sphere with other countries and create joint ventures.
"The United States will need to continue Ukraine support for several years until its own defense-industrial base has been created," analysts say. According to them, Ukraine's requests for international security in the long run will decrease as Kiev increases its own defense potential to become independent in this respect. Whether Ukraine can build a defense-industrial base depends on whether the strategically important areas that remain under the occupation of Russian troops will be released.
Currently, the US and partners' military assistance is crucial because the United States remains the main supplier of the necessary military equipment, such as the M1 Abrams tanks, armored personnel carriers, advanced air defense systems-Patriot and long-range systems, which in previous US assistance packages were priority.
