New Arms Package: The United Kingdom will transmit 650 LMM Martlet missiles to Ukraine (video)

This type of weapons was created to defeat small, quickly moving goals, which will strengthen Ukraine's capabilities to protect its territory and infrastructure from air threats. On September 6, the United Kingdom announced a new package of measures to strengthen Ukraine's air defense in the amount of £ 162 million. Within this package, Ukraine will receive 650 light multi -purpose missiles (LMM) Martlet to protect against Russian air attacks.

This is stated in the report of the British government. The decision was announced by the Minister of Defense of the United Kingdom John Gili at a contact group on Defense of Ukraine on the basis of the US Air Force in Ramstayna. This was the first participation of the head of the British defense department in this format.

These measures were the result of a bilateral meeting between Gili and the Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov in London, which discussed plans to increase military assistance to Ukraine. The first batch of such rockets will come to Ukraine by the end of this year. In addition, by the end of 2024, the United Kingdom plans to put artillery ammunition to Ukraine worth £ 300 million. The Martlet (LMM) Multi -Production Multiple Rocket (LMM) was developed by Thales and arms in 2020.

This type of rocket was created to defeat small, fast moving goals and can be used both on land and at sea or in the air. The rocket weighing only 13 kg is equipped with a multi -mode guide, including laser beam and a semi -active laser guidance, which enables it to be a universal remedy against various purposes. Martlet can develop speeds up to 1. 5 mach and has a range up to 8 km.

It has already been used in hostilities, including the participation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the current conflict. The rocket is adapted for use of many platforms such as helicopters, sea ships and drones. Its modular design allows you to modernize the system depending on combat missions.

For example, in the British Armed Forces, they are used in two segments - either under the MARLET MAS or SMRC Stormer HVM, or as lightweight anti -ship missiles under the Leonardo AW159 Wildcat HMA2 Aviation of the Royal Navy. It is expected that the supply of this type of weapons will strengthen Ukraine's capabilities to protect its territory and infrastructure from air threats, and will be an important step in strengthening the defense relations between the United Kingdom and Ukraine.
