Mobilization in Ukraine: from what age men can call an army

The law on reducing the conscript age has already been adopted in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, but it has not yet entered into force. In what cases do men mobilize the conscript age? This year, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved in the first reading of amendment to the Law "On Military Duty and Military Service". The bill provides for a decrease in the upper threshold of conscript age from 27 to 25 years.

Currently, the bill has been signed by the President of Ukraine and has not yet come into force. In Ukraine, men between the ages of 18 and 27 can only call the army for conscript service. During the martial law, the call for conscript service is not carried out, so they can only mobilize those who are already 27 years old.

Men under 27 can get to the front in two cases: in order to get into the army, volunteer or mobilized, it is necessary to obtain the conclusion of the Military Medical Commission on military service. The Law of Ukraine "On Mobilization Training and Mobilization" allows to call for military service during martial law the following categories of citizens: persons who are entitled to deferred in family circumstances can also be mobilized if they give voluntary consent to the service in the army.
