The Russian soldier directed a machine gun to a 6-year-old son: a Ukrainian told the British about the horrors of Kherson

According to Darina Sesenenko, during the occupation, the Russian soldier was inspected in her apartment. The son slept in the bedroom, the invader came in and sent a machine gun to him. Each time after the explosion, she had to calm the baby - to say it was thunder. 32-year-old Darina Sedenko left her hometown of Kherson and moved to the UK with his six-year-old son. Edinburglive writes about it. According to Daria, she is "extremely grateful" to the British authorities who gave her housing.

Now she has settled in the Scottish city of Midlotian. Russian troops in Kherson killed her friends, and even sent their weapons to the son during a search of the house. "When you are under occupation, it is very difficult to leave, and we tried hard to leave Kherson. It was difficult to watch other Ukrainians run away from the country in the first few days of the war because it was simply impossible for us. It was good luck," - She said.

The Ukrainian also spoke about a search in her house, which was conducted by soldiers of the Russian occupation group. "At some point, the Russian soldier came to check our home. My son slept in the bedroom, and the soldier checked his room and sent a machine to my son. You can imagine what I felt at that moment?" - explained the Ukrainian. According to her, they have heard the breaks of shells continuously for many days. But her son explained that it was a thunderstorm.

"We were subjected to numerous checkpoints at checkpoints, where people were raped and tortured," she said, adding that we had to delete everything that could cause suspicions from the phones. People stayed out of connection. Several of her close acquaintances were killed: someone from rockets, someone from torture. To stay in Kherson under the occupation was becoming more and more dangerous every day, she said. Darina and her son were after all managed to leave.

In September 2022, they settled in the Scottish village of Roslin. But a month later I had to move, because sponsors gave housing only for a while. Other people organized a fund raising campaign - and Darina was able to move to separate housing. Recall that almost 93% of refugees from Ukraine are in Europe. Economy Minister Yulia Sviridenko said that a key factor in returning Ukrainians home from evacuation is security.
