Hungary's "successor": Germany blocks negotiations on new sanctions against the Russian Federation - the media

The EU is preparing a new sanctions package, but Germany requires some changes. In particular, one of the comments concerns the introduction of penalties for companies that violate the restrictions already accepted. Germany blocks negotiations on the next package of sanctions against Russia. This was reported on June 13 at Stuttgarter Zeitung. EU diplomats have reported that the planning of new sanctions has not yet been completed due to concern and requests for changes from Germany.

One of the European politicians even compared Germany with Hungary, which also blocked the EU decisions previously. New sanctions should be aimed at combating the ways of bypassing previous restrictions. That is, for example, to prevent the Russian industry to use Western technologies for weapons. In addition, the EU wants to impose severe sanctions against the enemy business of liquefied natural gas. According to diplomats, it is a ban on the use of gas ports to third countries.

Moscow is expected to sell less gas and pour less money into war. It is reported that Germany does not agree with the measures aimed at bypassing the sanctions. Berlin is in order to limit the liability of the offenders to certain goods or not to introduce it at all. The media noted that it is probably related to the fear of punishing German companies.

Germany also considers certain reporting obligations and seeks to weaken the West, which leads to the restriction of the use of the Russian SPFS system to exchange e -communications about financial transactions. Initially, it was planned that a new package of sanctions would be adopted to the G7 summit. However, according to EU diplomats, the decision cannot be made until June 14.
