The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation declared "Azov" terrorists

The lawsuit in May was handed over to the Supreme Court by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation. The meeting in the case was postponed several times until it took place on August 2. The Supreme Court of Russia recognized the Azov regiment with a terrorist organization. The information was reported by RIA News. It is known that the court session was in closed regime. The lawsuit was filed by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation. It happened in May 2022.

The court sessions were transferred twice to the request of the department. According to the decision of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the activity of the regiment "Azov" is now prohibited in the territory of Russia. The organization is recognized as terrorist. Azov was formed as a volunteer battalion in 2014 in Mariupol after Russia's military aggression in Ukrainian Donbass. It was later reformatted into a regiment, which was part of a regular Ukrainian army.

Now Azov is the 12th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. The unit is involved in the fighting of war in eastern Ukraine, mainly within the Azov region as part of the CAB forces. Azov dismissed Mariupol in June 2014, participated in the battles near Ilovaysk, defended Mariupol since the end of August 2014, and launched an attack on Shirokine in February 2015.

During the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the regiment participated in the defense of the city of Mariupol and further, the heroic maintenance of the Azovstal plant. At different times, the regiment was headed by Andrey Biletsky and Denis Prokopenko. Russia uses the Azov regiment in its propaganda to blame Ukraine of the alleged revival of neonacism.

Earlier they wrote that the Russian invaders are ready to pass the body of the body killed in the correctional colony in Olenivka soldiers of the Azov regiment. According to Dmitry Lubin, the Russians insist that the transfer of bodies can only occur after the investigation. And on July 29, the Russian media showed Ukrainian fighters who survived the explosion in Olenivka.
