New Amraam for F-16: US Air Force successfully tested the latest AIM-20d3 missile

During the AIM-20D3 project, engineers used digital technologies to modernize hardware in the rocket section, as well as to update outdated software. The US Air Force and Raytheon have successfully completed all the design and operational tests of the Medium Air-Air-Air-Air-20D3 missile rockets, which ended with a F-16 fighter and software fighter. This was reported on July 11 by Defense Brief.

AIM-120 is the most powerful advanced Amraam rocket that, as a result of modernization, significantly increase the attacking potential of the US Air Force. "AIM-20d3, being the latest variant of the AMraam class rocket with radar guidance developed under Form, Fit, Function Refresh (F3R), is intended for effective counteraction to threats by analogues," the statement said.

Within the F3R program, engineers used system engineering initiatives based on models and other digital technologies to modernize hardware in the missile section, as well as to update outdated AIM-20d3 software. Raytheon reported that contracts, including $ 1. 15 billion in June 2023 and $ 972 million in September 2022, have led to acceleration of production, so the company plans to complete the supply of the missile by August 2025.
