Nuclear project of Russia and China on the moon: what countries are going to build on the Earth's satellite
Subscribe not to miss the latest and most intrusive news from the world of science! 3 years ago, Roscosmos and Chinese National Space Administration (CNSA) announced a common intention to build a base of the International Scientific Monthly Station on the moon. Although at first it was stated that astronauts from different countries will be able to work on this base, NASA astronauts will not be able to get there.
And the reason lies in a rather cold relationship between the US and China, as well as with Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine. Now it became known that Roscosmos plans to build a nuclear reactor for a month that will produce electricity for the future lunar base. The term of implementation of this project is marked as 2033-2035.
According to Roscomos, the construction of a nuclear reactor will take place without human participation, and the necessary technological solutions to accomplish this task are "almost ready". Nuclear reactors are likely to be necessary to support the activities of future databases in the moon, as solar panels will not be able to create enough electricity. It is not yet clear what size and shape will have a nuclear reactor for the moon that plans to create the Russian Federation with China.
Neither Russia nor China has never sent their astronauts a month, although the latter has long declared plans to do so by the end of the decade. In preparation for this flight, China will test new huge multiple space missiles, as focus has already written. At the same time, the PRC is happier than the Russian Federation in terms of study of the moon.
Last year, the first in 47 years, the Russian Monthly Mission ended in a disaster when the landing machine "Luna-25" crashed into the moon surface, as the focus already wrote. But since 2013, China has successfully delivered 3 boarding machines a month. The last of this list, Changie-5 collected on the moon samples of local breed that were delivered to the ground. This feat will try to repeat with the mission of "Chani-6", as focus has already written.
