A unique mission. Private company from the US sends a landing unit for a month on SpaceX rocket
Subscribe not to miss the latest and most intrusive news from the world of science! Intuit Machines can be the first private company in the world to carry out a soft landing of its landing module on the surface of the moon. According to the company, already on November 15, the Nova-C landing machine should go on the Falcon 9 missile a month. This device is already completely ready for flight and can be taken to the starting ground in September.
But the start-up date depends on the tense graph at the Kennedy NASA Space Center, where many launchers start launches for autumn. The starting window for launch for the month will be opened by November 20, and if the Nova-C does not fly these days a month, then it is also possible to send a landing module in December. The private mission from IM-1 IM-1 was named IM-1 and is funded by Nasa Commercial Lunar Payload Services.
In part, this program also supports a larger NASA monthly program called Artemis. Its purpose is to plant astronauts on the South Pole of the month in a few years. NASA has decided to move the placement of the IM-1 mission to the South Pole of the month, from the previously planned equatorial region. In this way, the new landing site will coincide with the Astronauts of the Astronauts of the Artemis Mission.
So far, no private company in the world has been able to do a soft planting of its planting machine on the moon. For example, a similar module called Hakuto-R from the Japanese company ispace crashed into the moon in April this year while trying to land. The same thing happened in 2019 with the landing module "Bezhash" from the Israeli company Spaceil. Then for Israel it was generally the first attempt to put its device on the moon.
Another company, Astrobotic, also plans to send its Peregrine landing module at the end of this year. This mission is also funded by NASA, but it is not yet clear whether this year will run. There are other missions from US private companies that want to plant their devices on the Earth's satellite, but they are still under development. Scientists believe that with the help of a new spacecraft it will be possible to make regular and inexpensive flights between the Earth and the moon.
