According to the Lieutenant Colonel of the Armed Forces in the reserve of Sergei Grabsky, Russian air defense is Soviet systems that are not designed to fight drones. In this regard, Moscow remains vulnerable to such attacks. The last attack of drones on Moscow on July 24 emphasized the inefficiency of Russian air defense. The military expert, the Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Sergey Grabsky told this in a comment to the Apostrophe TV.

Thus, according to the colonel, the Russian forces are unable to reliably protect the Russian sky, especially in Moscow, from UAV attacks. The problem is that air defense systems have been designed to combat the Soviet Union models when drones did not exist. Nowadays, modern drones used, for example, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, are showing high efficiency that puts Russian air defense in a difficult position.

"We see that the Russian sky above Moscow is reminiscent of a colander if it is possible. Even if there is additional forces and means of air defense, it will simply be physically impossible to cover all objects over Moscow and to protect critical objects of the city or a place of decision making," Grabsky said. In addition, the expert noted that drones on Moscow could have been started for research purposes to find out how the RFC system reacts to such launches.
